• The Year I Became a Citizen of Green Day’s “F**got America” (8/27/2024) - for Them's "2004 Was So Gay" theme week, I looked back on how American Idiot became my lifeline as a repressed queer teen.
• This Archive Offers an Incredible Window Into the Early Trans Internet (11/22/2023) - a deep dive into TGForum.com, one of the internet's earliest transgender spaces, via a CD-ROM archive of its first five years that was discovered in 2023.
• Amy Schneider Is More Than “That Nice Lady on TV” (9/30/2023) - I interviewed Jeopardy! sensation Amy Schneider about her memoir In the Form of a Question, and discovered we're both freaky little ADHD tgirls at heart.
• At Wrestle Queerdom, Trans and Nonbinary Wrestlers Ruled the Night (8/30/2022) - the first all-trans pro wrestling card in the U.S. immediately became infamous for the mistakes of its rookie promoter. But in talking with the performers who gave it their all anyway -- Edith Surreal, Giselle Shaw, Sonny Kiss, and more -- I came away with a better understanding of what makes queer wrestling so damn special.
• How Do I Know If I'm Transfeminine? (3/21/2019) - I've gotten a lot of messages since writing this from people who said it helped them decide to transition, which blows me away every time and reminds me why I do this work.
• GEN(D)ERATIONS (2019) - a series of historical essays about influential figures in trans history, one from each decade across the 1960s to the 2000s. I'm more proud of my profile of Jordana LeSesne herein than just about anything else I've ever written. (The final installment is missing from this tag page, but you can read it here.)

Bitch Magazine

I consider myself privileged to have written for Bitch Magazine, both print and online, before its shutdown in 2022. Bitch was a truly one-of-a-kind publication and I'm glad to have contributed in a small way to its legacy.

• No Girls Allowed: The Lasting Rules of GamerGate and Toxic Misogyny (5/11/2017) - for Bitch's "Fragility" series, I reported from PAX East about the state of the games industry three years after the beginning of "Gamergate."
• Reproducing Racism: Diving Into The Handmaid’s Tale’s Fumbles With Nina Fiore (5/9/2019) - sometimes, a TV executive voluntarily tells you she thinks of a Black character as the white lead's "spirit animal," and your brain just whites out for a second. This interview was one of those times.

• Trans Soul Legend Jackie Shane’s Songs Are More Powerful Than Ever (10/20/2017) - on Shane's first-ever official box set from Numero Group, her incredible (but short-lived) rise to fame as a Blank trans singer in the 1950s, and her impact on today's trans musicians decades later.
• Next to Transitioning, Standup Comedy Is a Piece of Cake (8/2/2017) - an interview with the delightfully funny Riley Silverman about transitioning on stage.

Polygon

• O Human Star is the best robot comic in a decade (8/15/2020) - pretty much what it says on the tin. Blue Delliquanti is one of the best comics creators in the industry today, and if you don't believe me, you haven't read O Human Star.

• This Trans-Owned Beauty Co-op Wants To Be A Safe Space For Latinx And LGBTQ Workers (9/9/2019) - I interviewed the founders of Mirror Beauty Cooperative in Queens, NY about what it means to create a worker-owned business as both immigrants and trans women.
